“In The Spotlight” Questions

1. Give us a brief bio of yourself, name, age, where you're from, up bringing?

My name is Rhonesha, but everyone calls me Nesha, which I flipped at the age of 16 to serve as an acronym and motto for my lifestyle. It stands for No one Ever Slows Her Agenda. I am 20 years old and I am from Brooklyn New York.

2. What is your current occupation?

I call myself a media mogul in the making, my friends call me "young Oprah." Technically though, I am a college student, journalist and entrepreneur. I have two websites, SocietyandStyle.com and HerAgenda.com that are still evolving. I am taking two completely different approaches with each site.

3. When did you decide that this career was what you wanted to pursue in life? What and/or who were your influences?

I found my niche when in high school. I took a journalism class because it was offered as an elective and ever since then I fell in love with it and have been actively pursuing anything and everything possible to learn and practice the craft. My influence at first was my advisor and then it grew. All the great journalists I meet influence and inspire me. But my greatest influence is Oprah and the path she took and the approach she has toward her career.

4. I'm sure you have run into many obstacles while pursuing your dream. How did you overcome them?

I overcome them when I think to all the people I look up to and realize that they too went through similar struggles and at the end of the day they got past them to become who we know them as today. What we go through now is just a snapshot of our lives, its not the whole movie so to speak. I read that somewhere before and it's so true. We fret about things as they come, but in the bigger scheme they don't matter. You just have to push through and trust that you are bigger than whatever that obstacle is, your purpose is bigger, so you will overcome.

5. What qualities do you embody that you think are contributing to your success?

I have ambition and drive I can't control. I think about work all the time, and always think of how I can do things better. Thinking the way I do as young as I am is not normal. Most people don't even think about interning until their junior or senior year of college, and I started when I was a senior in high school. I am also overly optimistic which is good because your thoughts determine your life. If you think a certain way it will manifest itself in one way or another.

6.What is the biggest achievement you've accomplished thus far?

I am not sure what that would be because where I am now is no where near what I have in mind for the future. And so looking from the outside it looks as if I accomplished a lot but I have a long way to go. I have won a few awards and get acknowledgment from various orgs but I want to make such a major impact that it all seems like nothing.

7. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? In a perfect world what would u be doing?

In five years, my website HerAgenda will have a global reach, and I will be a freelance writer for various magazines and also have a weekly online series that draws in millions of viewers!

8. If there were one thing you wanted everyone to know about you what would it be?

I would just want them to know about ME period. If everyone knew about me and everything I was trying to do it would be so much easier to make the impact I want. I want to change the world, and I want them to know that the change is coming!

1. Give us a brief bio of yourself, name, age, where you're from, up bringing?

My name is Xilla I reside in the empire state where the city never sleeps you might need to slip an ambein. I ce fr a broken he where my mother raised me and through that experience I learned how a woman should be treated.

2. What is your current occupation?

I am a full te blogger and I am also the entertainment editor for Globalgrind.com

3. When did you decide that this career was what you wanted to pursue in life?

What and/or who were your influences? One day while working at GE I just presented with a flat screen tv and I didn't want it. I was sick at the job. I felt that Mastered it and it was time for a change. So I quit to focus more time on my blog. Two weeks later global grind called me and the rest is history.

4. I'm sure you have run into many obstacles while pursuing your dream.

How did you overcome them?man!! A few weeks after I got the gig with Globalgrind I got sent to jail for a failure to appear on an old court date. They kept me for 45 days. I lost my spot but while I was in there I read a few books on the mind and writing while everyone else was reading hood books and booty mags. One night I couldn't sleep and when I finally fell asleep I had this dream. I woke up and wrote it down and I wrote my business plan and goals and when I got out I accplished each and every one of them.

5. What qualities do you embody that you think are contributing to your success?

Well I believe success and excellence is about certain habits. So I made sure I developed some good habits and it's been working.

6.What is the biggest achievement you've accomplished thus far?

Ive done alot of stuff. Frlm meeting the top names in the game, working with russell simmons a lot of stuff. At the end of the day it would be My kids and when tell me I am a great daddy.

7. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

In a perfect world what would u be doing? Hopefully Ill still be around. My goal is to be one of the biggest brands in the game.

8. If there were one thing you wanted everyone to know about you what would it be?

I'm pretty much an open book. But I would say I want them to know that I would love them to read my blog blogxilla.com.

In The Spotlight: Robin Thomas

1. Give us a brief bio of yourself, name, age, where you're from, up bringing?

I'm Robin Thomas and I'm 25 years old (with 26 approaching in less than two weeks, lol). I'm a Cleveland native, graduate of Collinwood High School and an alumna of Wilberforce University, class of 2006.

2. What is your current occupation?

I'm currently the Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Polished Cleveland Magazine. I've also recently become Copy Editor for The FreshXpress.

3. When did you decide that this career was what you wanted to pursue in life? What and/or who were your influences?

I've always had a passion for writing and knew that I'd be involved in some form of media. My Bachelor's degree is in Mass Media Communications, so this is what I've been preparing for since I entered college. I'm a magazine junkie and I have been since I was a teenager. I, along with my partner Christine Taylor, began to develop Polished a year ago when we recognized a need for a cohesive voice for the young professionals in the Cleveland area. As far as my influences, I've followed the careers of editors like Amy DuBouis Barnett (formerly of Honey Magazine), Susan L. Taylor (formerly of Essence Magazine), Emil Wilbekin, Danyel Smith (formerly of Vibe Magazine) and Tina Brown (The Daily Beast).

4. I'm sure you have run into many obstacles while pursuing your dream. How did you overcome them?

The biggest obstacle I've discovered is being taken seriously as a business WOMAN. There are a lot of stereotypes about women in business, especially in a business so closely linked to entertainment. And truthfully, a lot of those stereotypes are earned. I've learned to not take it personally when I'm underestimated because I'm confident that the work I do will kill whatever preconceived notions people may have.

5. What qualities do you embody that you think are contributing to your success?

Wow. I think the the biggest contributor to my success thus far is my passion for what I do. Polished is so closely connected to who I am because it's a publication for people like me who are just trying to nail down the concept of what it truly means to be an adult. The love that I put into it I think makes it genuine. I've never had to sell anyone on Polished. I think my passion has a lot to do with that.

7. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? In a perfect world what would u be doing?

In five years, I plan to be a librarian. Sounds boring but I'm such a nerd at heart that working in a library would be heaven for me. I'd like to see Polished as the voice of Cleveland's young professional community by that time and I'll more than likely be doing some freelance writing on the side just for fun.

8. If there were one thing you wanted everyone to know about you what would it be?

Hmmm. One thing about me that people should know? That I'm actually quite simple. There are a lot of people who want to paint the "I'm larger than life! I'm the ultimate hustler!" image and that's not me. I do believe in hard work, but if I can fulfill my purpose while living a peaceful, balanced life, I'll take that above being the millionaire who gets "no days off." Can I have it all and do it all? Of course. But I'd much rather have a nice manageable piece of it.

1. Give us a brief bio of yourself, name, age, where you're from, up bringing?

Enitan O. Bereola, II - age 27 - Originally from California. Rurally raised, yet metropolitan minded. A casual author & somewhat of a perfectionist in all realms. Learning lessons but staying honest. Because I’m shameless, I’m an open book & because I’m sharp, I’m self-restrained. Full of emotion, but always rational. Humble, but quite often ostentatious. I come off as a walking, talking dichotomy which makes me absolutely berolaesque, just like you.

2. What is your current occupation?

Best Selling Author, Style & Etiquette Impresario, Public Speaker & Entrepreneur

3. When did you decide that this career was what you wanted to pursue in life? What and/or who were your influences?

I didn't choose this life, this is the life that chose me! I went to school for computer science & business marketing … all of my internships were in Information Technology at Fortune 500 companies.

God placed me on my path & I've been following His lead since. However, when I look back on things - it's like I've been prepared for this my entire life … from the way that I was raised - to my relationship w/ my peers & community - to my interest in writing … God had this thing mapped out long before I came around to it!

4. I'm sure you have run into many obstacles while pursuing your dream. How did you overcome them?

Prayer and support - there were so many people that believed in the project and supported the movement. They wouldn't let me quit … I wouldn't let me quit.

You get to a point where it's just dark & lonely & you begin questioning if it's all really worth it. What you used to believe in now becomes questionable … once you get past that point - if you're able to get past that point - you will be a success at whatever you do!

5. What qualities do you embody that you think are contributing to your success?

I'm bereolaesque … I am my brand … I am shaping the culture.

6. What is the biggest achievement you've accomplished thus far?

I could say the seeing myself on TV, or hearing myself over & over on the radio … or even seeing myself in 3 magazine in one month. I could arrogantly say the tours and the fans … but none of that.

My biggest accomplishment thus far has been reading the messages of people who were once hopeless who now have hope - reading the messages of folks who lived a gangster lifestyle who are now talking bereolaesque this & bereolaesque that! My biggest accomplishment is my 10 year old supporter and my 84 year old supported! The lives that I genuinely touch & inspire … that's where my accomplishments lie.

7. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? In a perfect world what would u be doing?

Exactly what I'm doing now in a much larger capacity.

8. If there were one thing you wanted everyone to know about you what would it be?

That I'm a funny guy! Sometimes my humor is coded in heavy intellectual banter and it intentionally goes over some folk's heads. I can crack a joke on you & you wouldn't even know. But the people that know me best, know that I've got jokes!!!

In The Spotlight: Louie Castro

1. Give us a brief bio of yourself, name, age, where you're from, up bringing?

Well the name is Louie Castro and I'm 20 years old. I was born and raised outside of the city in upstate New York, in a little corrupt place called Spring Valley. I didn't exactly have what you would call a normal upbringing. I was taken away from my mother at the age of 3, moved around from foster parent to foster parent, and was finally adopted at the age of seven. My adoptive parent was a single mother, but she had very old school parenting styles. I will say tho, if it wasn't for her I wouldn't be such a man of character and class as I am now. A big thanks goes to my mother. I moved around a lot after that from one state to another, a lot of back and forth from Florida to New York even to PA. It taught me a lot about different lifestyles and people. It helped me shape who I am as well.

2. What is your current occupation?

I am a singer/songwriter/composer. I currently work under a recording contract with Tony Yayo of G-Unit.

3. When did you decide that this career was what you wanted to pursue in life? What and/or who were your influences?

I always had a strong passion for art, especially music. I found myself constantly singing along with the songs played on the radio. Trying to imitate them was like my hobby I guess lol. When I was 7 I did my first talent show in my Elementary School. I really liked Backstreet Boys back then. As I got older tho I started to take singing a little more seriously. So when I moved to Florida I was introduced to a friend of my mother. He was a great oldies singer. He taught me about vibrato and falsetto, tone variation, breathing and air control; all the ins and outs of melody. I learned a lot from him. Then years later I found myself in the right place at the right time and was introduced to Tony Yayo through one of his friends. He liked what he heard and has worked wit me ever since. Now we're months away from dropping my first single.

I'd definitely say though, my major influences in music are artists like Brian Mcknight, Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson, Nat King Cole, Usher and many more.

4.I'm sure you have run into many obstacles while pursuing your dream. How did you overcome them?

I've definitely had nothing but an uphill battle throughout the pursuit of my dreams. Many personal and family issues brought a large amount of stress and distractions. It was so hard to stay focused on a positive future when each step I took looked as if I was being led into a dismal end. But I never gave in because I always reminded myself that it is only such a hard struggle because it is truly worth it. "Whatever doesn't carry a challenge doesn't carry a reward." That has been a motto I have truly learned to live by. I also will owe much of my success to individuals such as Yayo, Devin Piccola and my friends and supporters. Of course I will never leave out my number one fan and companion Monique James. That's Wifey in case you don't get it lol. She's always supported me and kept me on the right track and has done so much for me. I'm am so grateful to have such a special individual in my life.

5. What qualities do you embody that you think are contributing to your success?

I would definitely have to contribute my success to my ability to be highly adaptable and versatile as well as being a highly open-minded and deep individual. I've learned to be patient and willing to compromise. Also my endurance allowed me to never give up and keep on trying. I'm also very poetic and eloquent in speech which definitely contributes to having very lyrical music and good conversation. I'm full of compassion and empathy and can easily place myself in the shoes of others, thereby more readily appealing to various audiences.

6. What is the biggest achievement you've accomplished thus far?

My biggest achievement thus far has been being featured on Thisis50.com under Tony Yayo's "Swine Flu" Mixtape.

7. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? In a perfect world what would u be doing?

I can truly see myself, in the next five years, being a successful artist, satisfying the minds and hearts of my fans all around the world. I will have a place to call my own, a true home. As well as many of the luxuries that come along with being famous, which don't need to be stated. As well as happily Married to a wife named Monique James lol.

You see the only way my world would ever be perfect is with her. Because without her in my life, I wouldn't really have anything.....I mean, wat's having the world if you have no one to share it with.

8. If there were one thing you wanted everyone to know about you what would it be?

I just want the world to know that I'm nothing more than what you see and I will always strive to be real and true to myself and those who support me and love me. So to the world. I will always be Louie Castro, no One else, and I hope the world can accept me for who I am as an individual not just an artist.
